Chimney Sweep in Bloomingburg, NY
Just across the Sullivan County line at the foot of the Shawangunks, with an older village core and hard winter weather.
Chimney sweeping in Bloomingburg
A chimney sweep in Bloomingburg, NY is a run north up the valley and over the Sullivan County line. The job at the other end does not change. We brush the flue its full length, clear out whatever has built up inside, and tell you plainly what condition the rest of the chimney is in. What changes is what we expect to find when we get there.
The village is about seven miles north of Middletown, a short drive from our base in Middletown. The county line reads like a long way on a map and is not one in practice, so coming back to look at something again is no trouble.

Over the county line, and colder for it
The Village of Bloomingburg is the one community on our list outside Orange County. It sits in Sullivan County, in the Town of Mamakating, a short drive north up the valley from our base in Middletown. It is still well inside a sensible working radius, and we would rather say so plainly than leave you guessing at a county line.
The village sits at the foot of the Shawangunk ridge. The weather here runs colder and snowier than the valley floor around Middletown. Sullivan County winters are the harder end of what this region gets.
In chimneys that shows up three ways. A longer burning season. Heavier creosote on appliances run as main heat. And more of the freeze-thaw cycling that takes masonry apart.
The older village core has housing with real age to it, and the questions that come with age. Liners that may be cracked or absent. Soft historic mortar that should not be repointed with modern hard mortar. Tall stacks that have been weathering a very long time. Outside the village, larger lots and steady wood heat are common, which puts the focus back on regular sweeping and whether the flue suits the stove.
Snow load and ice matter more here than anywhere else we cover. Flashing at the roof line takes the brunt of sliding snow, and it is a frequent leak point on houses where nobody has looked at it in years.
How a visit here runs
We look the system over before anything is touched. Hearth and floor go under cover, the fireplace opening is sealed, and a vacuum runs the whole time so what comes out of the flue ends up in the machine instead of the room. Then the full length gets brushed, we clear what falls, check what we can reach, and go through it with you. The full sweeping process is on our main page.
Whatever needs attention, we show you first, usually in a photo. That matters more here than in most places, because so much of what goes wrong on a Bloomingburg chimney is snow and ice damage up at the roof line, where you have no way of seeing it. Then we lay out the options, including leaving something until next year when that is the fair answer. We do not price a repair we have not looked at.

Booking from Bloomingburg
Call (845) 375-3666 and tell us the address, what you burn in, how hard you run it over a winter, and when it was last swept if you know. That is usually enough for us to say what the visit needs to cover, what it will cost and how long we will be there.
Try to book ahead. The burning season starts earlier and finishes later up here than it does down on the valley floor, and once the first hard night arrives everybody calls at once. A summer appointment also leaves room to get flashing or mortar dealt with before snow is sitting on the roof.
